My sixth grade students are industrious, creative students who enjoy a broad range of enriching, inclusive, and innovative projects.
They are enthusiastic when it comes to creating projects that involve building things from scratch and making up new ways of thinking, and applying the interdisciplinary approach of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to their lessons.
This is the last grade and a memorable year where these older students advance to a stage of broadening their education to field trips to San Francisco and beyond.
My Project
Help the students obtain a ping pong table and meet one of their chosen classroom physical education goals. The kids can compete, exercise, and work on eye-hand coordination with this equipment. This is an outdoor table so the kids can play outside (fresh air!) and the table will fold up into the physical education shed. Your donation to this project will be most appreciated.
This P.E.
addition to the school has many health benefits: improving sportsmanship, confidence, balance, mental acuity, and will be a beneficial sport on a rainy day under the awning. The author Russell McClendon says, "Ping pong is also increasingly billed as a 'brain sport,' featuring a mix of aerobics, strategy, quickness and coordination." Table tennis, anyone?
