If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I am hoping that by having a ping pong table available at lunch, many students will find our high school a much merrier/happier place to be.
I teach math at a high school on the Navajo Indian Reservation in the high desert area of northwest New Mexico.
Our school has 320 students. Our community is very poor and our high school has a 100% free and reduced price lunch program.
Our school has been losing a lot of its programs due to funding issues. We have lost our band program, woodshop, tech lab, track and field program and even key math/science teachers positions have not been rehired when a teacher leaves.
There are also few clubs here at our school -- only about 4 or 5.
I am hoping to give the students one more positive outlet for any student who would want join us by playing ping pong during lunch by starting a ping pong club.
My Project
It would be great for my Navajo students to have fun by playing ping pong during lunch. Often at our school during the students free time at lunch there are few fun activities that are planned.
Hopefully, if DonorsChoose.org can help us by locating some wonderful sponsors, the students here can have some fun at lunchtime. My students need a ping pong table.
My students need 4 ping pong paddles and some ping pong balls (a set).
By having this opportunity for fun during their school day, the students would have one more positive reason that they might not otherwise have had for coming to school every day. Thank you to any of you that are able to help us out.
Native Americans are the only group in America whose graduation rates are decreasing -- all other groups have been increasing lately.
Please give the students here one more positive reason for attending our high school and then becoming high school graduates.
