Help me give my students the books to create a lending library. These books will allow students to bring home the stories we read in class home.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a unique position where I get to service multiple pre-K classrooms as a reading interventionist. Most of the students I work with are Ell’s. The more exposure to vocabulary and books the more they will grow. I do interactive stories and beginner reading/writing skills with them. These kids are so appreciative of anything we do with them. They are inquisitive, smart, funny, and so loving. They unfortunately don’t get the opportunity to bring books home, so I’d love to start a book buddy program for them.
My Project
By starting a lending library with the preschool students, not only are we encouraging and developing a love for reading, we are also bringing a home- school connection. These children can bring the stories we read in school home to read with their families developing more language and vocabulary to help them Succeed. The more exposure to good literature the better language they will develop. The students I have are mainly ELL’s and have little to no language at all. I work with the classes by reading stories that have a lot of colorful pictures and lots of vocabulary to help them pick up and learn the English language. I work with them on letter/sound recognition and uses books is a great way for these little minds to get that exposure they need at this young age.
