"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." - Marian Wright Edelman
My 6th-grade students are caring and love their community.
Living in a small town makes the closeness of community possible. These kids have each other's backs and care about each other's successes, cheering each other on and lifting each other up.
I love that my students can be themselves and share with me who they are and their dreams. They make me want to be a better teacher just by being near them.
My goal is to have them understand that community extends beyond their backyards.
My Project
Kid Power Bands
Help me give my students the ability to become world community members and help malnourished children through the world.

My Project
The UNICEF Kid power band teach students the importance of being active while allowing them to earn points. These points earn food packets for malnourished children throughout the world. The band tracks all movements by the student. After 2400, movements they earn their first point. For every 10 points, they earn a Ready-To-Use-Therapeutic-Food Packet. These packets are sent to malnourished children to help save their lives. They also earn UNICEF coins, which we will donate to the local animal shelter.
Global citizens help make the world better.
My students will be learning about the world and how other children live in areas such as Africa and Central America. This will allow them to appreciate where they live and the food they have access to. They will also learn how they can make a difference in places other than just where they live.
