My students need preserved pigs to dissect in their Anatomy and Physiology class.
This project expired on January 23, 2015.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Being creative and movement is what you will see in my class on a daily basis. I try to get my students "out of their box" and into my classroom to learn and love science.
About ~80% of the students at the school I teach at receive free/reduced lunch and a majority speak English as a second language.
Many of them can not afford school supplies and are responsible for providing for their families. While they have challenges at home, I want to provide them with a safe and fun learning environment where they can be teenagers and immerse themselves in science.
As a final Anatomy and Physiology project my students will spend two weeks dissecting pigs. They will study each of the pig's body systems and organs. This is a great way to tie together everything that they learned throughout the school year. Not only will they learn about the body systems and organs they will learn proper lab techniques.
The donations will help me get the pigs needed for my Anatomy and Physiology classes.
Dissecting pigs in this class may be the only opportunity my students have to study and get up close and personal with a once living organism. This is a wonderful experience for the students to have and it may push some of them to continue their science education after high school.
