This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello, Pre K! I now have the privilege to teach and inspire our youngest students! I teach 20 of the sweetest, hard-working kids you'll ever met! I have 16 boys and 4 girls. They all have the sweetest smiles! We are a Title I school that prides itself on making sure that all students know they can succeed. The majority of our children are eligible to participate in the free lunch and breakfast program. My students are kind-hearted and are determined to do their best every single day!

My Project

I am requesting the books Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and We Are in a Book! for each one of my students. My students do not have books in their home and have missed out on early literacy activities. These two wonderful books will be theirs to keep. They will be their forever books! We will read each book over and over in class. We will talk about how to properly love and care for each book. We will also talk about the parts of the book and practice carefully turning the pages.

Then the real magic will happen.

The children will get to take the books home! They will get to share their love of these stories with the whole family! They will be so excited. They will also have ownership of the books because these books will get to stay home with them. I hope this will spark a love of books in each one of their beautiful hearts.
