Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Eager and curious explorers in the middle of San Francisco's Mission district. We are a Title I School, and over 80% of students qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch.
We are a dual-immersion school.
The students are amazing, and they're passionate about Science!
They ask questions, define problems, and put effort into their work.
Science class is a great place for many students to get messy and engage in hands on learning, where they are encouraged to try and fail over and over (while observing and learning trial).
My Project
Hands on projects are a perfect way for students to engage in learning. This project will allow each student to participate in a pig dissection. First students will have a chance to closely examine the specimen and discuss the external properties and purposes, including the digits, snout, tail, eyelids, and umbilical cord.
Students will take turns carefully dissecting the pig open, and then they will be able to explore the internal parts.
We will particularly focus on studying the structure and functions of the digestive system. Students will be able to see the gallbladder, liver, stomach, esophagus, and small intestine.
This will be a very exciting experience for these students, and I want to thank you for considering us.
