This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a small community in St. Louis, Missouri. My students come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some come from single-parent homes, high poverty environments, or homes that speak more than one language. Some of my students come to school with high attention and behavioral needs. The community is very close, and there is a sense of pride for our community and school!
As a school, our goal is for every student to discover who they are and feel empowered.
Each year my classroom is full of diverse learners and personalities. My students benefit from hands-on learning and thrive when they are given opportunities to move around and try something new.
My Project
Year after year my students love learning activities that involve puzzles. They are able to problem solve while also work together with other classmates. We currently have a few literacy puzzles, however they only focused around skills for struggling readers. My students are eager to have more activities to choose from during independent learning time to practice a variety of literacy, math, and social-emotional skills.
My students will benefit from the assortment of puzzles to practice phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, social studies concepts, cause and effect, and more!
Each year my students progress at different rates, so having this variety of skills to practice will ensure each child is getting exactly what they need.
