Piecing Together Fractions One Tile at a Time!

My students need fraction tiles to grasp a concrete understanding of fractions!

My Students

My students are high energy, and hands on learners. As long as they are interested in something they are super determined learners.

I teach at a title one school in Del City, Oklahoma where all students eat free breakfast and lunches.

They are also provided backpacks for the weekends full of nourishing food.

Students that come from low socioeconomic homes don't always receive the educational materials that will promote a lifetime of learning. My hopes and dreams are to provide them with the tools they'll need so they can start to work to a better future. With the help of this donors choose I believe it can happen!

My Project

We know even as adults that fractions can be tricky! For students they are one of the hardest concepts to learn. I am hoping these fraction tiles will help my more visual learners see exactly how fractions work!

Howard Gardner stresses the "multiple intelligences".

The fraction tiles will help my students who are kinesthetic learners get a fair chance at understanding the concept of fractions as they are able to take pieces apart and show different ways to make equivalent fractions.

I am willing to try anything to make fractions a little easier for students to learn and if I have the fraction tiles the students can use them to help in any way possible!
