I have the privilege of being a part of a very diverse student body. We have students of various cultures, ability levels, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are working towards building self-awareness and unity as a school.
We want our students to be future leaders by leading self, leading others, and changing the world.
Not all of our students have the opportunity to see beyond their own backyard. The students have the desire to learn and branch out beyond their own boundaries.
Students will have the opportunity to create their own unique puzzle piece. Each piece will then be put together to form an individual class puzzle and school-wide puzzle. Each puzzle will represent the uniqueness of each child and bring awareness of Autism in our school and community. These puzzles will be auctioned off to raise money to support our local Autism Society. The puzzles will be created in conjunction with a school-wide Autism Awareness Acceptance month.
This project will enhance Surry County School District theme of Promise 4 All.
Students will be able to use their creativity to make a puzzle piece, while learning about acceptance and self-awareness. Our students are learning to live, learn, and lead as individuals and collaborative groups.
