Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a preschool with students between the ages of three and five. Our preschool students come from various backgrounds and our belief is that social and emotional development serves as the foundation of all other learning. We provide a play-based, child-centered curriculum in order to offer opportunities to maximize the learning potential of all children, especially our Diverse Learners (special education students) and English Language Learners.
All students express themselves and communicate in different ways using various materials.
Our preschoolers, including our Diverse Learners, are always seeking new opportunities to express themselves in different ways through various platforms.
My Project
Please help me provide my students the materials we need to begin our social/emotional curriculum. We start the year recognizing emotions by singing songs, reading books, and having discussions. I would like to make the experience even more authentic by taking a picture of them on their first day of school. The first day of school can sometimes be happy, scary, or sad.
By being able to take pictures of the students and then showing it to them, we can then start discussing the feeling associated with their individual picture.
At the end of the school year, a second picture will be taken and then we will be able to compare the feelings they felt between both pictures.
Other materials will help us stay organized and provide support.
