Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words, Help Us Capture the Fun!
Help me give my students yearbook quality cameras! Our students currently have point and shoot cameras with a fixed lens and cannot take quality athletic photos, or manipulate the cameras. These would truly up their game!
My students are volunteers! We run yearbook as an extra-curricular group and the students learn to take pictures, edit pictures, manipulate pictures, write, design, and produce a yearbook. These students find a home in the yearbook and are thrilled to find a place to belong! A group of their own. They often come in fearful of using their creativity and then blossom as we go through the year. They learn all about manipulating technology through photoshop and illustrator along with other photo-editing and design platforms. They learn that technology is FUN, and it is so helpful, taking a ho-hum picture to something worth remembering! They ask to meet more often and do more! I love my yearbook kids and you would too! They are the best ever!
My Project
Students will be thrilled to use Canon cameras with interchangeable lenses allowing them to take the winning shot! This will improve the quality of their designs and thereby improving their interests in continuing to learn in technology and art-related fields.
Photography can help students understand that they are not defined by their surroundings.
They, in fact, possess an element of power to alter their surroundings by choosing to see them differently. This extends beyond the students' immediate community by creating an awareness of the world around them.
