My students need a digital picture package to view the pictures they take to showcase our year in VPK!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
We are a brand new class addition to our school for this coming school year 2018-2019. We were awarded 2 VPK classrooms to add to our already existing K-8 school. Our school is basically 4 schools in one: elementary, middle, special communication/Autism spectrum (CSS), and special needs for our region. My students mostly walk to school and live in the neighboring communities surrounding our school. Most students can't afford school supplies, especially the items needed to be successful in a technology based society.
Every child that comes into my room will feel loved, needed, wanted and will leave successfully ready for Kindergarten.
In order to do this, they must have the tools and skills needed to advance in a technology driven world. These students suffer from many different issues within their homes from abuse and neglect to parents in and out of jail. They need security in my classroom and need not to worry about if they have the "right stuff."
Students will use the camera, tablet, and flash drive to create digital memories of their year in VPK. Students will be able to take pictures with the camera to capture special events as well as everyday life in our classroom. The pictures will them be displayed on the tablet and used as a part of the technology center. As the pictures are replaced on the tablet, they will be put into a folder, either by event or month on the flash drive, so we can view them without deleting them. Students will be in charge of what they want to view and how often. We will take the camera on field trips and allow students to showcase their learning away from the building as well.
Lights, camera, action, review--what memories will you create this year!
Students need to be able to take pictures of what they are doing to bring learning to life. For most of my students, this will be the only way to experience a "digital" life.
