Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students of the Millennial Generation are excited by technology and it's applications. It excites and motivates them. The art of photography has moved into the digital age and my students are anxious to learn all about it.
My students are a very diverse group.
Each class is home to students in grades nine through twelve. Some are English Learners, some are honors students, some have physical disabilities or other challenges. Most of the students come from low-income homes, making it difficult for them to access the latest technology. All of them are very taken with social networking and using technology for personal expression.
My Project
I chose this camera because it has plenty of bells and whistles without being too complicated. Most students are familiar with using a cell phone to snap a picture. Beyond that, their knowledge of photography as an art form is very limited. I want them to experiment and challenge themselves to figure out the hows, whats and whys of digital photography.
I have nearly 300 students this semester.
This one camera will receive a lot of attention! The students will use it to document their work, create digital portfolios, create tutorials, and photograph their school, friends, teachers, and themselves. It will provide a unique opportunity for them to experience art through the lens of a quality instrument.
