This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title 1 school in College Point, NY. More than half of our students come from low income homes.

Our class is an ICT classroom, with a combination of General Education students and students with Individualized Education Plans.

We have 29 students in our class, with a full time General Education and Special Education teacher.

Students in our class enjoy sharing their work with each other, and receiving feedback from peers. A document camera would help our students to do just that.

My Project

We have an ICT classroom with two teachers. We only have one document camera in our room. When we break our class into groups, one group is left without a document camera to share student and teacher work.

It would benefit the students immensely to be able to see student models of work, as well as teacher models on the smartboard.

As a teacher, I always model each part of the writing process. This allows students to have a better understanding of what is expected of them when they work independently. Students learn so much from seeing teacher models and how other students think, and this is a great way to do that!
