This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Teaching 6th grade, never a dull moment! This is my heart, THEY are my heart. Each day is a new beginning, and my students are eager to learn. My theme this year revolves around the rainbow! I want my children to know kindness, and show kindness..(I am also starting a Kids for Kindness after school club) Each child is diverse as are the colors of a rainbow, and background will not hinder their learning. Hands on and movement sparks thoughtful minds!
My Project
My 6th graders will come into ELA this year with visuals around our class that show all are welcomed, and kindness will spread kindness. The children will not only learn from reading, but doing; showing through pictures of immediate reactions from acts of kindness. (Cameras), having a cozy discussion, reading center to share(carpet). The theme of rainbow, will be a learning target for diversity and equality in our home away from home, the classroom. Voices and images will create teachable speaking, feelings, and creative engagement for our classes. I want all my students to feel excited about learning and sharing/spreading their knowledge! This learning will spread to our after school club, "Kindess Counts by Kids!"
