This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are known as the Rainbow Bear room at our school. What makes our preschool room extra special is that we are the only true inclusion classroom at our school. That means that half of our students are typically developing and half of them have an Individualized Education Plan. Our special education students consist of a variety of disabilities. We have some students with Down syndrome, others with severe language delays, and a handful that are diagnosed with Autism. It is so fun to see our students all working together as a happy little family.
My Project
We only have one colored printer at our school for all teachers to use. We never mind sharing but unfortunately we often run out of supplies for the printer, especially the ink cartridges. Having a Wireless Color Laser Printer and extra toner cartridges would be useful. As preschool teachers, our students often need materials that are bright and colorful yet we don’t always have the opportunity to provide that for them. We print a lot of sight word books in our classroom and being able to make them in color would be wonderful! Another important aspect of our classroom is the picture schedules we use for our special needs students. Some of our students thrive on visual models. Being able to make picture schedules for them, in color, would benefit their development and help them achieve their individual goals.
