Help me give my students the necessary supplies to become Picture Perfect by donating digital cameras and ink cartridges to our Special Needs Significant Disability and Autism Students.
My students have exceptionalities and are in the Significant Disabilities Autism Classroom. It is important to expose my students to various STEM activities as well as job training skills so they can be self-motivated for the real world. It’s often a challenge because our students are overlooked because of their exceptionalities but in reality, my students need to learn independence and job training skills the most due to the lack of possibilities available to them. I continue to incorporate hands-on STEM activities and projects so students can achieve success in and out of the classroom. My students are remarkable and I love their larger than life personality and the joy they spread throughout the school sprinkling kindness and love to everyone! What better way to capture their love and kindness to others by having them take photos with the numerous friends they have acquired in using digital cameras and technology to develop photo shoots that promote their social skills, technology application, and career skills for the future. It’s exciting to look through the lenses of my special needs class and be amazed at their willingness to always love others.
My Project
My Special Education Students (Significant Disabilities Autism) Class is participating in creating an individual scrapbook portfolio for the school year. The portfolio will include monthly Community Based Trips/Activities which are geared toward career readiness! In creating this portfolio we will also be taking pictures of the various activities and trips that will help us grow. One of our career choices is to learn photography. Our class is in need of a digital camera and ink for these two projects to be successful!
Our class will begin learning photography and schedule various photo shoots with peers.
As we work toward learning how to take great photos we will also utilize technology to edit these photos and print them for our scrapbook portfolio. Special Needs Students struggle with social skills so this is a great opportunity to work on building social skills as well. My sweet special needs students lack the opportunities many others have in obtaining a career they can be successful in so it is up to us to teach them and prepare them for a career in which they can be successful. Our project for the next few months consists of utilizing a digital camera and scheduling photo shoots to learn photography. In this project since funding is limited, we ask that you please help us with our job training projects that promote a successful future. The digital camera will be utilized throughout the year for our many community-based trips, class activities, and school functions for each class member to create their own scrapbook which will be given to parents/guardian at the end of the school year at our awards ceremony! Please help us change the world one student at a time...
