A smile comes over my face when I see my kiddos walk through the door ready to learn. I have the joy of working with an enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and inventive class of first graders. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I teach in a small, rural community. We are a Title I school and welcome the diversity of our students. Our focus in 1st grade is to help our firsties to learn to love learning. They love reading, writing, math, science, and technology, (just to mention a few), by working together with our “school family.” They are like sponges and soak up every bit of information that they can get each day. My goal is to give them a solid foundation in 1st grade that will provide them with the basic fundamental skills to help them throughout their lives. These children are our future leaders. Our class will appreciate any support that you can give. By supporting our children today, we hope that they will grow up and become productive members of society.
My Project
When the children come over to the calendar, they need a soft place to sit. The alphabet rug will be the perfect addition to our room. It shows the students the correct formation of the upper-case and lower-case letters, along with cursive letters.
Giving the children a cozy place to sit is inviting and a place where they will want to learn.
That is what the alphabet rug will provide.
We also need scanners to scan the students' work and photos in color so they can be added to their student portfolios. The portfolios provide a glimpse into how much they have grown both academically and physically throughout the school year. Thank you in advance for any support that you are able to give our class.
