We live in a small town in the southern U.S. My students are little artists in training. They are eager to pursue their interests in learning more about visual arts. They are creatively driven when working with their hands. Each week they create a new and unique piece of art.
Project based learning is the best way for these students to learn.
A growing body of research supports the use of PBL. Schools where PBL is practiced find a decline in absenteeism, an increase in cooperative learning skills, and improvement in student achievement. Art projects help all types of learners to succeed in this classroom.
My Project
Its a brand new semester and that means I have a whole new crop of students in my classes. My students are beginning to paint in our Visual Arts class.
They don't even realize they are learning because they are having so much fun.
Art classes are the highlight of many students' day! Painting is the number one requested activity. Tempera paint is affordable and washable which is really important when working with kids. In earlier projects we got the primary colors. Now we are looking to get some secondary color paints and different colored paper.
No matter where it's placed, having a beautiful piece of art to hang in our classroom or at their home helps students love what they create in art class. Help our students get a little messy and a little creative, have a little fun, and learn a lot.
