I teach a K-2 bilingual class in an urban school with 85% of the students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. All of my students are brand new to the United States. My students enter my classroom with little or no English. Many of them have never had a school experience in their native country. It is my job to prepare them for the regular education classroom.
My students are from 5 different countries, speaking 4 different languages.
My students are all eager and excited to learn.
I would like 30 picture dictionaries to send home with my students as a welcome gift to our country and to their education here in the United States. I have a set of these dictionaries for classroom use, but my students and their families would benefit from this resource in their home as well to help accelerate their language development.
This dictionary has beautiful pictures of 1,000 common words in English.
Having this on hand at home will help the students with their homework and use of the English language, this year and for the years to come. It will also help family members who may not be fluent in English as well.
