My students need books to supplement our writing and math curriculum. These books include "The Boy Who Loved Words," "Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" and "The Matchbox Diary."
Do you remember a time when a book got you excited about learning more? My students need books like these to raise their engagement with writing and math.
I teach a group of 26 fourth graders.
My students come from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Each day they come to school eager to learn more. While they love learning, they need to find an extra spark to excite them about math and writing.
My Project
Throughout the year I try to enhance our lessons in math and writing with exciting and engaging read aloud books. These books serve as mentor texts for our writing and introductions to important ideas or concepts in math. To continue to provide this kind of instruction, we need more books!
These books will help me to hook my students in our writing and math lessons.
As their engagement grows, so will their skills as writers and mathematicians. Thank you for helping bring great literature and ideas into our classroom!
