My kids are advanced in science, technology, mathematics, and overflowing with an eagerness to learn. They have the opportunity to become future leaders. My students are always running to me about books they love! Maya Angelou put it perfectly when she said "Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his needs, is good for him".
When students are curious, and excited about reading, and collaboration to learn, they deserve a way of learning that gives an equal opportunity to succeed.
My students are composed of different cultural backgrounds and most of them are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
My Project
We are a brand new school and do not have books that fill up the library. The limited supply we have does not fill up the shelves nor do we have enough for students to check books out yet.
With your donations, my kids will be able to pick a book of their individual interests and reading level to check it out.
These books will add variety in my library to entertain more students. The library is where all the students in the school have a chance to grab a book, relax, and enter an exciting adventure! Every student book that is in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have been asking what they enjoy and paying attention to the books they bring into the library. Students will be able to have a greater selection to choose from and check them out to continue their adventures.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
