There is no better reward than getting to be part of all of their lives.
I love every minute of teaching and learning with them! With nearly 70% of my students coming from homes that qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches, getting them to think about Language Arts can be challenging, but my kids are willing to trust me and start the learning process every day to help ensure that love and desire to learn. I want them to be able to take it with them as they grow and enter the world. I am teaching the future and I know it will be bright.
My Project
Picture books are a great resource to use when teaching skills such as theme, main idea,and perspective. It allows time to teach the skill in a fun way. Not every story has to be long. Sometimes picture books seem easy enough for those struggling readers and allow them to understand those skills because they have the confidence the book provides, plus who doesn't love the bright colored pictures, and a quick read!
Students get so excited when the picture books come out, it gives them time to listen and be a kid in a world that wants them to grow up quickly.
