Each year my 7/8 grade special education students lack in vocabulary development and writing skills. By reading picture books rich in descriptive writing and vocabulary, my students' education can benefit. It will also help hook my reluctant readers.
My Project
"I Am Enough," "Be Kind," "Give Thank You a Try," "Pout Pout Fish and the Bully Bully Shark," and "But It's Not My Fault" will aid in supporting our PBIS program by showing responsibility, respect, and being powerful. These books will lend to great classroom discussion.
By participating in the #classroombookaday challenge, my 7th and 8th-grade special education students will be exposed to rich vocabulary and descriptive writing daily. My 7th-grade inclusion students will also benefit from the mentor texts to complete their spring picture book project. They become pen pals with 1st graders and write a picture book using their pen pal as the main character.
