My Students
My students are highly motivated and eager to learn. Many of them live in low socioeconomic neighborhoods, live with relatives, and are sometimes even homeless. They are exposed to gang activity, poverty, and they lack resources that many of us take for granted daily. They continue to come to school despite factors that are beyond their control because school provides a space that feels like home and student-teacher relationships that feel like family.
My Project
Unfortunately, my school does not publish a school yearbook. The collection of photos that the camera will provide for our seniors will reflect the events and lives of people involved within the school during the school year. The Senior class will be able to capture highlights of lasting and final memories with classmates, teachers, and friends.
My Senior Advisory group is picture perfect; no filter.
The individual beauty that they possess is evident in front of the lens and is not affected by circumstances that may exist behind the lens. They help me to find the beauty in everything. They understand the importance of photos because too often photos are all that they have left. Hopefully, this project is a jumpstart to yearbook committee roles in the creation and publication of our school's future yearbook.
