Help me give my students 4 picnic tables because our students really enjoy having lunch in our courtyard, which is in the center of the school just outside the cafeteria.
As educators, it is our goal to provide the best learning environment for our students. Our students are amazing individuals who constantly keep you on your feet with their personalities and clever nature. They are forward thinkers with a love for socialization. We are trying to build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.
We are a poor rural school with over 70% free and reduced-price student enrollment and do not have the financial resources to provide extras we need for student success.
My Project
Our junior high is in need of equipment to accompany our program this year that highlights student success through communication, peer awareness, respect and dignity, attitude, acts of kindness, empathy, stopping bullying, self-control, anger management, and stopping the drama, to name a few. Our junior high is composed of 132 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The students are divided into 6 houses, composed of students selected through a random drawing with each group having students from all 3 grades in each group. Positive deeds and treatment of others includes a weekly point system of competition. It has resulted in a healthy environment and success in the classroom. In addition, our Principal has instituted a work environment with students having significantly less homework and better production during school hours.
One of the things the students really enjoy is having lunch in our courtyard, which is in the center of the school just outside the cafeteria.
We are currently using some old tables and folding chairs to accommodate the lunch hour. We are in search of 4 to 5 square picnic tables that are made of composite as wood has splinters and is heavy to move.
Our students have become more closely knit and more tolerant of others since they have new privileges to accompany their improved work ethic.
