My students need access to books on a variety of sports. I am especially excited about Make Me the Best at Track and Field because this sport is very popular at our school.

My Students
Our school's library is one of the most popular places in our building. The library services nearly 800 students from different cultural and economic backgrounds. I am proud of the fact that students can find just what they need to meet a variety of reading interests and a range of abilities. Our comprehensive and growing collection is essential to meeting each student's needs.
Many of our students do not live near a public library so they rely on their school library to meet their reading needs.
Do you remember visiting your school library? Did they have books you were interested in reading? Our students love visiting the library and last year checked out nearly 24,000. The best gift I can give my students is a growing collection filled with up-to-date resources.
My Project
Funding this project will bring 30 new titles on a wide variety of sports to our library's collection. I know the kids will be competing to be the first to check out Chicago's Big Teams: Great Moments of the Cubs, Bears, White Sox, Blackhawks and Bulls.
As part of our celebration, I will host a sports breakfast for athletes so they can be the first to check out the new titles.
I know that many of our student athletes love reading about their sports so the books on soccer, running, and golf will be very popular. The Mind vs. Muscle series will help students build an intellectual bridge between their athletic skill and the science behind their performance. These books can't be in the library soon enough!
