Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a high poverty area where students have grown up with many hardships. The majority of my students are Hispanic with English as their second language. Ninety-eight percent of our students qualify for free lunch.
My students come to my class wanting a safe environment from hardships they may be dealing with outside of school!
These 5th graders know, though, that my classroom is a safe place for them to be. Each one of them is a caring student who holds high values of respect and responsibility. All my students are very enthusiastic to learn and grow their minds for their futures! My goal is to continue giving my students this safe, comfortable learning environment to continue their learning
My Project
My students sometimes come in without eating breakfast or not having much the night before. I want to make sure they have something to eat in the times when they are hungry.
A snack will give them a little energy to wake back up and focus.
I picked healthy snacks that are quick but filling. We are giving them a little energy to make it through the day.
I usually buy snacks throughout the year but it gets costly. I need help in this area to make sure my students have snacks.
I will be creating a bin for when my students need a breakfast because they came in late or need a snack during the day, they will be able to go into this bin and grab a pick me up. Or even if they need a snack to take home for the day.
