My Students

Our school serves students in grade K-5. It is a Title I school, where all students are offered free breakfast, and approximately 95% of the students receive a free lunch. The parents are hard-working, but still, struggle to survive. Therefore, the students suffer when it comes to school supplies or helping out the classroom with supplies.

I teach fourth and fifth graders that are either gifted or high achieving students.

The students are given an intensive alternative curriculum, in order to push them even harder throughout the year. My classroom lacks many supplies for the students, in order to make it a conducive learning environment where they can shine.

My Project

Sitting in a chair, at a desk, for six hours a day sounds miserable, especially when you are older. Why not be able to move around the classroom and sit comfortably where you want? Allowing the body to move to another space room gives students more freedom when learning.

The donation to this project will make our classroom more flexible when it comes to completing their daily tasks.

I like to allow my students to move around the classroom and choose where they work best. Whether that be their own corner, with a buddy on the floor or laying down comfortably. Flexible seating gives the students that freedom, but comfortably. They do not have to sit on cold tiles, dirty carpets or broken plastic chairs. This seating will give students the opportunity to work on their clipboards while kicking back and relaxing. It is much less stressful to their working minds.
