I have an awesome second-grade class in Bloomington, Minnesota. It is a very diverse school. My school is classified as a high-poverty school, with many students on the free or reduced-price lunch program. My students are made up of a wide variety of abilities, interests, and challenges.
They are all at different academic levels and have an array of talents.
My students come in daily with a positive attitude and are ready and willing to learn. From learning support students to English language learners, I am here to teach them all, and give them the best education. Our school is a community working together to create a positive, academic, and social experience for all learners to soar.
My Project
Each year I like to recognize student birthdays by letting students pick out a new book from my birthday box. I keep the box filled with class favorites like Bad Guys and Ivy and Bean. My intervention students are at all different reading levels, so I like to have all different levels available. My students know when it is someone's birthday, the birthday box comes down and the decision making begins. For some students, it is simple to choose a favorite book. For others, they ponder over what will make the best birthday book.
