My students have an energy and passion for being involved in their community. Most of them participate in more than one organization before or after school--BPA, FFA, churches, Boy Scouts, Robotics and including our many sports teams. My music students interact with all different types of students and create positive learning climates. They are the leaders at our school.
The disciplines that they learn in music class translate to all fields.
When they don't do a certain music section correctly, they try and try again until they get it right. One of my flutists said, "Compared to 5 measures of 32nd notes in Pachabel's Canon, Life is easy!" She practiced hard until she was able to play the 5 measures of 32nd notes. I was so proud of her! The work ethic musical excellence promotes does indeed translate to all fields.
My Project
At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, my best flute student had the opportunity to play the piccolo for a short amount of time. The interest in practicing and preparing the music went sky-high! And the sound--what a great addition to the High School Pep Band! The whole band also played more advanced musical literature with the increased instrumentation available. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the student had to part with the piccolo, which devastated the flutists morale and totally changed the sound of our band.
Please help me give my students that special motivation by the best flutist being able to play the piccolo!
