A typical day in my classroom starts with showing pride in our school, community, and our country. We say the "Pledge of Allegiance", say our school pledge, sing the fight song of our high school, and sing the National Anthem. If you find a job you love, you never have to work a day of your life. My students are eager to learn and work well cooperatively together. You can often find students partner reading or discussing solutions to math problems together. My classroom has a lot of STEM learning opportunities, and I am always looking for more hands-on learning opportunities. Our school has a lot of school pride and works hard on displaying positive character traits not only at school but in the community and at home as well.
My Project
My students would love to have more art supplies in the classroom. Our district does not have art education. Therefore, as a classroom teacher, I try to provide as many opportunities for art lessons as I can. I would love for them to have access to a variety of paints to use in the classroom as well as sets of oil pastels to create artwork. I would also love to order Caldacott-winning books to study award-winning illustrators. Some of the book titles are Mr. Wayne’s Masterpiece, Birds of a Feather, and The Girl who Never Makes Mistakes. These books cover a variety of themes. I hope to inspire them to use their imaginations and not be afraid of being creative. If this project got funded, my students would benefit greatly from incorporating the arts into their reading and get experience painting and using pastels.
