Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders have creative, colorful personalities, and I think their classroom experience should be filled with as much creativity and color as they are. They love to dive into a good book, solve a tough math problem, investigate a new science topic, and get outside and move their bodies.
Now I'd like to let their creative sides shine as we explore hands-on art lessons.
My Project
Much of students' school experiences are filled with reading, writing, and math, but the truly memorable experiences often come from things like art, music, PE, and projects where we get to experience the lessons with our hands, hearts, and minds.
With your kindness and generosity, my class will be able to create a self-portrait a la Picasso, a starry night a la Van Gogh, or a beautiful flower a la Kahlo.
They will get to express themselves without a pencil or workbook and create memories along the way. Who knows what untapped talents and passion will be discovered.
