Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our class has been exploring various art styles and artesanías and now it's time to try our hands at piñata making.

Students will use paint, cardboard and colored tissue to bring their designs to life.

Students will design, and build their piñatas using recycled materials and paper mache techniques.

The tradition of piñata making and cartoneria (cardboard crafts) is a long standing practice in Mexico. Together we've read about Alebrijes, and piñatas and we're ready to give it a go. Students have even gotten inspiration from Netflix Mexico's Piñatamasters! I look forward to seeing their creations.
