Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Spanish students are some of the most fun students to work with. I serve 150 9th-12th graders at SHS in Oakland, CA. These students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, races, some speak 2 languages already and Spanish is their 3rd language. They all try so hard and do their best to speak a new language. I also teach Spanish Honors, so they work extra hard to go that extra mile.

My Project

I would like to provide my students with an end of year celebration that is as authentic as possible. With this Piñata and candy we can celebrate the end of another crazy hard year. Studies have shown that those who are shown love, given adequate care, and have a variety of experiences and opportunities from a young age have more neural connections in the brain. My students continue to be inspired to change the world and realize that their individual, daily actions impact their community!

With this Piñata Celebración we can end the year right with a community celebration that celebrates all they have accomplished this year.

Piñata Celebración is not just for Birthdays and Holidays, they can be used to mark a historic event such as the end of this crazy school year. They stuck it out and made it through another year of Spanish. I hope to see more of the same students return to Spanish 3 & Spanish 4 in the coming years.
