This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students take general music as a 12 week course. It is offered once in their entire middle school careers. For some, this is the only opportunity students have to learn an instrument.

My students are eager to learn and are excited about the chance to learn more instruments.

They are driven to use what they have learned about music and apply it to any instrument. They especially love performing their favorite songs as well as writing their own music! My students continue to surprise me with how extremely creative and talented they are!

My Project

These batteries will allow our classroom to have power for our keyboard pianos. There are six classes of 40 minutes. Having extra batteries will allow us to play our pianos longer each class! Students love having one on one playing time with their instruments. As long as we have batteries, we will be able to make our piano unit longer.

When surveyed, piano is the one instrument students wish to learn.

Many students are unable to sign up for lessons outside of having an exploratory class as part of their school schedule. Having batteries for our pianos will allow our students the opportunity to learn piano as part of their school day.
