Musical, creative, inquisitive, energetic...these are all words that describe my students. They love to sing, move, play instruments, and learn in hands-on ways. They love to use drums, Orff instruments, and ukuleles in our music room, and they love to perform.
Around 25% of our students come from military families, and this brings them their own unique set of challenges.
We have also received new students from Puerto Rico due to hurricane Maria. I want to teach them a love for music that will last them their whole lives, wherever they may find themselves.
My Project
I'm so excited to be starting piano instruction with my students in our new piano lab! I have chosen and am requesting several piano books that will be used for different grade levels as we learn piano skills. There will be class sets of books and they will be stored in the piano benches' storage compartments so that each child can quickly locate his/her book to use during class. These books will serve us well in the piano lab for several years as they will be safely stored and taken care of by students. I am also requesting a nice piano rug to put near the door to remind students of our new adventure learning piano.
