My students need piano accordions to use in class. We have half of a classroom set and would like to have another 18 so that students won't have to take turns.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"When do we get a turn?" It is a struggle running a piano accordion class with only one instrument for every two students in the room. This project is a request for one additional accordion.
There are up to thirty-six eager-to-learn students in my classes.
Third grade and fourth grade students get to learn piano skills using the accordion. We are a Title 1 bilingual elementary school in Texas. The students are hungry for music and enjoy making music with their voices and using the instruments we have.
My Project
The students presently have to take turns using the instruments as we only have 18 so far. Half of the class has to sit quietly and observe while their classmates learn and rehearse the songs. Then the students hand off accordions to the other half of the class and we repeat the process. We would like to have a complete set. Since this is a new Donors Choose request, I can only request one accordion at a time. We eventually want a full set of thirty-six. This request is for one additional accordion.
The piano keyboard is fundamental to understanding music theory internally.
The piano accordion is an amazing tool to teach students about the keyboard layout in a way that conducive to ensemble playing. The accordion is culturally relevant to many different ethnicity's. The students are thrilled to have a chance to learn the instrument. As far as I can tell, we are the only elementary school in the United States who uses the piano accordion as a regular part of the school's music program.
