Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a high poverty/low income suburban neighborhood. Many come from single parent homes or are in the care of guardians. The students I work with are fifth and sixth graders.
My students have the strive to learn and the self motivation to try to succeed in everything they do.
Many of them struggle to master grade level concepts due to a language barrier that we try to overcome day to day. They love working on tasks and activities that build their confidence and make them feel empowering and brilliant! Help us by contributing to empower young minds!
My Project
My students are preparing to celebrate Pi day this upcoming March 14th. We are planning to have a school wide Pi-Day Carnival where the entire grades, K-8th, come and play math centered games to win prizes. All the games are run and created by students! Games will be created in both English and Spanish!
This is a great time for my students to show what they know and feel like experts!
This is a fun day where students come to the gym and play skilled based math games and have fun while doing it! Students are looking forward to both participating and running the stands. We need your help to make this day possible for the students with wiffle balls, ping pong balls, ducks and rings to toss. They need something like this to help them feel empowered!
