Physics Students Seeking Vernier LabQuest 2 Data Collection Units!
Help me give my students Vernier LabQuest 2 data collection devices. The standalone interface is used to collect data and has built-in graphing and analysis applications. Devices can also be connected to Chromebooks for in-depth data analysis.
Our Title I high school services over 650 students, with about 63% representing minority groups, 55% at risk, and 22% with limited English Proficiency. Understanding Physics concepts in such a diverse classroom atmosphere brings with it a unique set of challenges. One thing all of my students have in common is a desire to use technology to learn.
Eager, hard-working Physics students seek Vernier LabQuest 2 data collection units to develop lasting, meaningful relationships (between data collected in hands-on lab experiences and authentic learning, that is).
In this age of information overload, most students cannot fully grasp Physics concepts by sitting in desks and taking notes. They learn much better when they are actively engaged in hands-on, differentiated investigative experiences that lead them to reach their full learning potential.
My Project
We hope to purchase the Vernier system of digital lab equipment for our Physics department. Two classrooms currently share the Vernier lab equipment that we have, and we seek to expand the number of units in our inventory in order to make lab groups smaller and increase individual responsibility for data collection and analysis.
The digital lab equipment makes gathering data easier, more accurate, and much more enjoyable for Physics students!
Students are able to instantly see the graphs that go with their investigations, making the time between data gathering and analysis much shorter. The equipment takes care of all of the tedious steps allowing more time for analysis.
