Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
High school physics is often approached with trepidation, but it can actually be quite fun and exciting! The improvements in technology add to the experience by giving students the chance to really act like scientists!
This low-income school is filled with highly motivated students who are making a difference in their own lives by getting their AA and high school degrees simultaneously. They are studying hard to improve their futures, but need the tools to help them visualize and understand abstract concepts.
As a new school, we are still trying to accumulate all of the tools needed for running a successful lab. The school donated tracks, we received a grant for photogates, and now we need the device that analyzes the data to be able to use these two pieces of technology together. With this piece of equipment, we will have the ability to perform over 50 different experiments, and the students can design their own labs and collect data like real scientists.
This device is the necessary link between the photogates and the moving object. They will allow the students to analyze data, and understand physics in a new and memorable way.
Any donation that you can give will be greatly appreciated by these students. They can't wait to get started on these high-tech labs that will improve their analytical skills and help prepare them for the demands of college.
