Stopwatches, calculators, and notebooks are the necessities of a fun and exciting unit with Physics! We need your help to make learning enjoyable as we venture into the world of Newton's Laws and Physics!
My students are learning to become life-long learners and are enjoying everyday learning science.
We are in a school where one-third of the population comes from low socio-economic backgrounds. My students can really use all of the support that the community and neighboring communities can help with. My students inspire me and each other everyday in science with their way of asking questions about the world and their curiosity of the Physics around them is ever-growing.
My Project
My students will be using stopwatches to record the time for acceleration and velocity of uniform objects. In addition, the stopwatches will be used to measure the time it takes for students to complete physical activities in their daily lives and using the calculators to calculate their average speed in Physics. These are necessary tools that my students need in order to understand velocity, acceleration, and speed. Students will be collecting data using these tools in their science notebook and constructing graphs and writing formal lab reports based on their collected data and analysis.
Using the limited calculators and stopwatches we currently have, my students are doing their very best to share the current resources that the school has provided.
Overtime, materials do break down and it costs a lot to replace the broken stopwatches and calculators. In addition, if each of my students had their own calculators and stopwatches to work with, they will work through labs and activities more efficiently and have more time to discuss with one another.
