Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How does a light switch work? What is a "circuit," anyway? My students would like to know!
My students are curious, creative, and hungry to learn about how their world works.
Many of them are gifted, and they love to learn through exploration and discovery. My school is located in a low-income neighborhood, but my students are not held back by that. They are hard-working, ambitious, and dedicated.
My Project
I am requesting supplies with which to help my students explore the basics of electricity, such as how simple circuits are formed. With these supplies, my students will learn about electricity by inquiry and discovery, using their own curiosity to guide them in their learning.
Discovery learning is unforgettable learning.
When you learn something by doing it yourself, the lesson lasts far longer than something unexperienced. By letting my students explore electricity for themselves, they will truly internalize the concept.
