Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher at a title one school. I have 20 students who are enthusiastic and active but have no equipment for physical education. One of my students brings an old soccer ball from home and I have a couple of jump ropes for them to use, but the students deserve more.
It is not very safe for my students to play outside in their neighborhoods after school. This means that most of them sit in their houses and play video games and watch television. It does not surprise me that an epidemic of obesity has overrun the United States. I want not only to teach my students what a healthy lifestyle is, but also allow them to experience those healthy feelings. I have allotted daily time to teach physical education but have very little equipment with which to work.
Any equipment donated will be shared with everyone in the second grade; that means that one hundred second grade students will have access to it.
