Photoshop Licenses for the Franklin Middle School Art Lab
My students need 11 Adobe Photoshop Elements licenses to allow art students to learn graphic design techniques applicable to modern art products and careers.
Varied outcomes is a focus in the art room at Franklin Middle School. The idea that success can look different and can be achieved through varied approaches is a key lesson that carries beyond the studio. Students are able to experience this first hand through a variety of materials and techniques.
Franklin Middle School is a beautiful school, closing in on a century old.
While most school hallways are adorned with mass produced posters, Franklin's hallways showcase fine art including regionalist artists Grant Wood and Marvin Cone. The students at Franklin comprise a cross section of urban living with a variety of needs and experiences. The population of Franklin is over 600 students - all of which pass through the art room's doors each year.
My Project
With the additional Adobe Photoshop licenses Franklin middle schoolers will be afforded a greater opportunity to learn and explore the world of graphic design. Photo manipulation, editing, and digital design and creation are high interest/ motivating projects that provide students a foundation that aides them in being more informed and observant in media literacy and prepares them for a great many viable careers.
For some students, their experience at Franklin Middle School offers them opportunities they would not receive otherwise.
Providing students the skills and understanding to be creative within the digital realm positions them as competitive and informed learners within modern conceptions of art in education. Students will do more in-depth projects and extend their digital creativity while not having to share as frequently and being in more control of the creative graphic design outcomes.
