My students need a photo printer so then can see photos of themselves around the classroom to help build our classroom community.

My PreK3 students are some of the most amazing children I have ever met. They live in one of the most dangerous communities in our nation's capital and some have gone through more in their young lives then many of us will every have to endure in a lifetime. Every day they walk down a hill to school where they are able to escape the violence that riddles their neighborhood. Despite all of the challenges they face outside the school walls, they still come to school each day ready and excited to learn.
My 3 year olds thrive on the educational and enrichment opportunities being offered to them which helps them to build their background knowledge and expose them to things they otherwise wouldn't be exposed to.
Many of them would not have any opportunities to build their educational foundations if it wasn't for being enrolled in school.
For my PK3 students, this is their first experience in school and often have a difficult time adjusting to school at the start of the school year. This photo printer and paper will allow me to print photos of my students and their families so the classroom is more welcoming to them. We complete home visits with our families prior to the start of the school year and always take a family photo which I hang in their cubbies. For students who struggle with separating from their parents, their cubby becomes a calming space where they can sit and look at their family.
We also post pictures of students around the room to help them identify their materials as they begin to learn to recognize their names and how to use materials appropriately.
With this printer I will be able to print pictures quickly and easily for them as needed and not have to wait for them to come back from the store. Often their is a week turn around, if not longer, between taking the pictures and actually getting them posted in the classroom.
