Sylvandale Middle School is a Title 1 school Located in southeat San Jose, CA. We serve approximately 760 7th and 8th grade students. 75% of our student population is Latino and 20 % Asian (primarily Vietnamese). We have a strong elective department where students have the opportunity to choose one of four electives (art, music, coooking, or computer science) to focus on for the entire school year.
I would like to order canvases for my 8th grade advanced art class.
They all have highly developed skills and are committed to their creative process. They are very excited to experiment with different materials and would be thrilled to have the opportunity to create a painting on a real canvas!
I would like to include photography in my curriculum and I would like the students to have the opportunity to print some of their photos on high quality paper. I would like to begin with a lesson on portraits. Students will learn more about photographing people, including how to create self-portraits. We’ll study some tips for improving photographs of people, including working with light. In addition, we’ll discuss the choice of posed versus candid (non-posed, natural) photographs. Finally, we’ll look at creating self-portraits and some creative ways of capturing your own image in digital form.
Having a quality printer, ink supply, and photo paper would make it possible for me to add photography to my curriculum
