My students come from all across Chatham County, on the coast of Georgia--they are diverse in every sense of the word. Many are gifted, all are high achieving, and they have many varied interests both in and out of the classroom--from perfecting their skills in the fine arts to forging their own damascus steel (not kidding, really).
One characteristic unites them all though--they are passionate about learning, problem solving, and creating.
They strive to further their understanding of the world and engage with it in multiple ways, all with the aim of making it a better place.
My Project
I am asking for a Canon EOS Rebel T5 18.0 MP CMOS Digital Camera SLR Kit so that my students can create content for our school yearbook and new school newspaper. My students will be able to use this camera to explore the world of digital photography in a way that is not possible using built-in cameras on their phones or tablets.
Most middle school students do not have the opportunity to study photography and photojournalism in detail, but with professional camera like the Canon Rebel, my students will.
By using a camera with the full spectrum of picture modes, manual adjustment possibilities, and different lenses, they will be able to expand and perfect their photography skills to create beautiful original content. They will use their photos to illustrate our school yearbook, as well as our new school newspaper, and even a school art and literature journal.
