Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Family engagement needs to be increased and magical moments are always needing to be captured. The children and their parents have been impacted by Covid-19 as they had to go without food and rely solely on the food pantry because the families endured job loss during the pandemic. Parents struggled with getting access to resources and because of this we have seen so many students come in this school year with many needs.

My students are unique and different because these students are ages 3 and 4 and they only know life with Covid-19 as they are Covid-19 babies.

Our students live in poverty, and they were born with little to no interaction with peers as they have been in quarantine for majority of their life. My students are eager to learn and we want families to keep the learning going at home which is why we want to increase family engagement. During the family engagement activities we want to instantly photograph the moments with the cameras so that families can take the photos home and remember the good times despite the rough years they endured during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Students will be able to take photos at the family engagement events and they will instantly be printed.
